Life is Good at WNE

Wow. Time flies at Western New England University, and so much happens! I had my first big college exam today and, of course, it was in physics. I really believe that I did well, though. Our class had a study session last night with our professor and it helped so much. I did not take physics in high school, so I am so glad that my professor is amazing. He almost made it seem easy… almost. J I have another exam in calculus tomorrow and one in microeconomics on Friday. Basically, it is a busy week.
I am not discouraged, though; actually, I am having a great week! Over the weekend I went to Canton, Mass for the Life is Good Festival (
http://www.lifeisgood.com/festival/). It was the most amazing experience. I spent the whole day playing games with one of my best friends Tim and saw my favorite music artist Sara Bareilles, along with many others, but the best part was that I was supporting a great cause and spreading optimism. The message really sticks with me: Life is good, good vibes save lives. With that message, I can never have a truly bad day. J The experience has really inspired me to share that message. I think I am going to suggest a trip through WNE to the festival next year, or find a way to raise money here for next year. I’ll keep you posted!

Peer Advising

Welcome back everyone! Second semester of my sophomore is well underway and it is busy to say the least. I have started a new role as a Peer Advisor this year. A Peer Advisor, or otherwise known as a PA, is a resource to first year students. I am available for anything that my 18 advisees need me for, from academics to their personal life. The Peer Advising program is a great resource that last year as a first year student I really benefited program. It is just one of the exceptional qualities that Western New England has to offer. I have loved my experience as a Peer Advisor, I have connected with my advisees and with the other PA's throughout our trainings and common experiences, developing so many new experience. As a soon-to-be WNE student you will soon have a Peer Advisor that you will be able to connect with and use as a resource and potentially have the opportunity to become a Peer Advisor as an upperclassman. It feels great to be back at my second home, look out for more of my blogs throughout the year. Happy Fall! Liz Above is a picture of all of the peer advisors.

Let's Go To The Movies!

This summer, I spent a lot of time going to the Rave Cinemas at the Eastfield Mall in Springfield. I mostly went on Tuesdays when every movie at any time is $5.00 (instead of $10.75) for every person. I saw Madagascar 3, The Dictator, Total Recall, The Campaign, Brave and many others. It’s a really good deal and if I had no classes on Tuesdays, I would definitely take advantage of it more often. Last weekend, my friend John and I went there to see The Possession. It was scary for a PG-13 movie, but we mostly laughed at the theatrics. On Wednesday, we won 2 free movie passes for any Rave Cinema when we got picked up by WNE’s Cash Cab (it’s actually a golf cart, but close enough). While driving to the library, we were asked 3 simple multiple choice questions. For answering the first question, we got a bag of candy. Then we got a movie pass for answering each of the last 2 questions. It really brightened up my day. John and I will probably go see Sinister (from the makers of Insidious) when it comes out in October.
On another note, I’m going with my boyfriend and his family to the Big E this weekend. It’s a yearly carnival in West Springfield with lots of food and rides and touristy attractions. I’ll be providing pictures and maybe a video along with my next blog.

Take care,
Brandi

Last Walk Around the Block

I cant believe its been 2 years since I got to Western New England University. Having come in as a transfer student, the adjustment was a little harder but I was given a great deal of support which made the transition much easier for me. I am truly happy I have gotten to where I am today and I know it is because of the connections that I have made here at WNE. It's finally senior year and it the last walk around the block in many regards. To this point, everything seems to be falling into place. It will be my 3rd year working with the hockey team here at WNE and I am now in charge of analyzing prospective players, a huge promotion for my senior year. I am also the treasure for the Sport Management Association, a position that I was elected to at the end of last year. Finally, my clothing company which is called Create & Conquer is starting to take off. There is certainly plenty on my plate this year but I look forward to the challenge and enjoying every last moment here at WNE.

Announcing...Year Three!

Hello from Western New England University! My name is Jason Titelbaum and I am a Junior Sport Management and Marketing major here at WNE. This is my third year as a student blogger for admissions and I am excited to be back. I am also an Admissions Associate, so I might see you when you come to visit campus for either a tour or an Open House! It is already week three of classes and everyone is starting to settle into their new schedules, and residence halls. I am so happy to be back on campus! Western New England has become a second home to me, and it is hard to believe that I am starting my third year at the university.

I also work in athletics as a public address announcer. Athletics has started out well and will shortly begin their conference schedule on Saturday. All of the teams look to be competitive and are primed for a great season.

Stay tuned for more information about what is going on at Western New England University!

Ten Facts about Me as I Start at WNE

Hello! I am so excited to be here at Western New England University and to be part of this student blog. I am new here, so I will introduce myself a bit.

Ten Facts about Me:

1.  My name is Lyndsey Saint Jean. I always spell out the “Saint” unless it is an official document. I don’t want to be confused as Lyndsey Street Jean. :)

2.  I am a freshman Engineering major here at WNE and love it. I am undecided for now, but I am strongly leaning towards Industrial Engineering.  I am also enrolled in the five-year MBA program.

3.  I am from a small town in Rhode Island where I went to public school my whole life. I also live next to my elementary school!

4.  I played soccer for most of my life; however, I decided not to play for WNE this year. I DO plan on doing intramural soccer because I miss it so much.

5.  I love classic Disney movies. Start singing any song from Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Little Mermaid, Aladdin etc. and I will finish it.

6.  I live in Commonwealth Hall this year and love it. My roommate Kara is the best! We met through HMA (Housing Management Application) over the summer and it worked out perfectly!

7.  I am a list maker. I make lists for everything. It is my strategy for keeping organized and calm. I also am constantly attached to my planner, for the same reason. I also have written in a diary regularly since middle school. I love doing it for calming purposes, to work out problems in my head, or just to record something that will be fun to look back on later.

8.  I worked as a soccer referee, a babysitter, a waitress at Newport Creamery, and now a phonathon worker at the Alumni Center here on campus.

9.  I love music and will sing anything, anywhere, at any time, sometimes to the surprise and embarrassment of the people around me :) haha.

10.  I love Western New England University and college life SO MUCH! I have been here for only two weeks and have already settled in. I give credit for this to myself for being easily adaptable, but mostly to this University. It has been so beautiful and I have not met a student or employee that was not kind and super helpful. :)
