Join a Club for a Sporting Chance

One of the benefits of being in a school club is you get to go on “field trips”. I am a member of the Sport Management Association, which is a club for Sport Management majors, or for anyone who is interested in sports and/or wants to make a career out of it. This past Tuesday, we were invited to the Mass Mutual Center for a Career Fair. We also got to take a facilities tour, and saw places people don’t get to normally see. We got to see the room where the ice is made, and all the rooms in the convention center, where they host conferences, and concerts. We learned a lot about what goes into the operations side of Mass Mutual Center. After that we went to the Career Fair, and talked to employers such as the Springfield Falcons, UMASS athletics, Mass Mutual Center, New Britain Rock Cats, the American Hockey League, and the Worcester Sharks. Everyone got about a minute to talk to each employer, and hand out their resume for future employment. Overall it was a great experience and a good chance to get my name out in hopes of finding an internship for the summer. My advice is to join a club; it will be very beneficial, not only now but also in the future.
